“Understanding Memory” One Day University Talk

Human beings store away huge quantities of information in memory. We remember countless facts about the world as well as specific information about our own lives. Most of the time we retrieve information from this enormous database of memory so efficiently and effectively that we don’t even give it a second thought!

As part of a One Day University series at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, Dr. Polk presented a talk that dives into the psychological and neural mechanisms underlying our amazing ability to remember. In the talk, Dr. Polk explored the different systems of memory, what factors have a dramatic impact on memory, and discussed ways to maximize it by applying techniques that have been scientifically demonstrated to improve retention.
